London is by far the UK’s worst area for burglaries, with 46.35 incidents per 1,000 people according to data on website lovemoney.com.
The figure is almost double that of second-placed Burnley at 24.63 burglaries per 1,000 people.
The table, comparing the period 2008-09 against 2002-03, gives the top 10 ‘burglary hotspots’ as follows, with nine of the 10 registering a reduction in burglaries over the period:

The area with the lowest rate of burglary is Ceredigion in Wales, which recorded only 2.84 burglaries per 1,000 people. The data also shows that Hartlepool, Durham shows the biggest reduction in the burglary rate between 2002-03 and 2008-09.
